Stansted Airport

Things to Know Before Flying From Stansted Airport

Essential Information for Passengers

London Stansted Airport (STN) is a major international airport located in Essex, approximately 42 miles (68 kilometers) northeast of Central London. It is the fourth busiest airport in the United Kingdom and serves as a hub for low-cost carriers such as Ryanair and easyJet.

Terminal Information

Stansted Airport has one main terminal building which handles all departures and arrivals. The terminal is divided into three concourses: Concourse A, B, and C.

Check-In Desks

Check-in desks for all major airlines (including Ryanair, easyJet, Tui, and Thomas Cook Airlines) are located in the main terminal building. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their scheduled departure time to allow sufficient time for check-in and security.

Security

Security checks are mandatory for all passengers departing from Stansted Airport. Passengers are advised to remove their shoes, belts, and jackets and place them in the provided trays for screening. Liquids and gels over 100ml must be placed in a clear plastic bag and presented separately for inspection.

Passport Control

Passengers traveling outside the UK are required to go through passport control. EU citizens can use the automated e-passport gates, while non-EU citizens must go through manual passport control.

Special Assistance

Passengers with disabilities or requiring special assistance should notify their airline in advance. Stansted Airport provides a range of services for passengers with reduced mobility, including wheelchair assistance and accessible toilets.

Airport Facilities

Stansted Airport offers a range of facilities for passengers, including shops, restaurants, cafes, and free Wi-Fi. There are also several lounges available for passengers seeking a more comfortable and exclusive experience.
