Gabriel Martinelli's late deflected strike seals dominant display

Kevin de Bruyne scores twice and makes one in emphatic victory

Arsenal boosted their hopes of beating Manchester City to the Premier League title with a 4-1 thrashing of their rivals at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Gabriel Martinelli's late strike, which deflected in off Nathan Ake, sealed a dominant display for the Gunners, who moved up to second place in the table, five points behind City.

Kevin de Bruyne was the star of the show for Arsenal, scoring twice and making one in a performance that underlined his status as one of the best midfielders in the world.

The victory was Arsenal's first over City in the league since December 2015 and will give them a huge psychological boost in the title race.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said after the game: "We've been working hard on penalties. We knew that we had to be clinical today and we were. I'm very happy with the performance of the team."
